Biography
Niraimathi Nagarajan (NiNa) is a California family law attorney with a distinctive international legal background spanning multiple jurisdictions. Licensed to practice law in both California and India, she brings a global perspective and a thoughtful, client-centered approach to helping individuals and families navigate complex legal challenges.
Niraimathi began her legal career in India, where she practiced as an advocate handling a broad range of family law, commercial, and cross-border legal matters. Her experience includes representing clients in divorce, child custody disputes, inter-country family law matters, marital agreements, and other complex legal issues requiring careful analysis and strategic problem-solving.
She later earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, where she concentrated her studies in Comparative Family Law and Policy, Advanced Private Law, Criminal Justice Processes, and Law and Information. Her academic experience strengthened her understanding of the legal, cultural, and personal challenges that can arise in family law disputes, particularly those involving international and cross-jurisdictional issues.
Before joining Modern Family Law, Niraimathi practiced with Ganesan and Manuraj Legal LLP, where she advised individuals, families, and businesses on family law, child custody, inter-country divorce, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, employment matters, corporate governance, and commercial transactions. She developed extensive experience drafting pleadings, contracts, legal opinions, and strategic legal guidance while helping clients navigate sensitive legal matters with clarity and confidence.
After relocating to California, Niraimathi successfully passed the California Bar Examination and now represents clients throughout California in a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, marital agreements, and other family-related disputes. She is passionate about helping clients understand their options, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence during some of life’s most challenging transitions.
Having lived, studied, and practiced law across multiple legal systems, Niraimathi offers clients a unique perspective that combines international experience with practical legal advocacy. She believes the strongest legal representation balances careful legal analysis with empathy, clear communication, and practical solutions designed to protect families while preserving important relationships whenever possible.
Outside of her legal practice, Niraimathi is a devoted mother and lifelong learner who values education, professional growth, and giving back to her community.

Niraimathi earned her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the School of Excellence in Law in India in 2019. During law school, she served as President of the Moot Court Association, where she helped lead advocacy initiatives while mentoring fellow students in practical litigation, legal writing, and oral advocacy.
She later earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom in 2022. While at Cambridge, she served as President of the Cambridge University Graduate Law Society and Vice President of her college’s student body, representing and supporting graduate students from around the world. Her studies focused on Comparative Family Law and Policy, providing her with valuable insight into the legal systems and family law issues that affect individuals across different jurisdictions.
After relocating to the United States, Niraimathi successfully passed the California Bar Examination and is licensed to practice law in California (State Bar No. 368662). She is also licensed to practice law in India, giving her a rare international legal perspective that benefits clients facing complex family law matters with cross-border considerations.
