In a recent FOX31 Good Day Colorado appearance, our very own LLPs, Selena Salinas (Fort Collins) and Jenni Wurtz (Colorado Springs), joined the segment to share how their work is making expert legal help more manageable and accessible for Colorado families.

Making Legal Help More Accessible

During the segment, Selena and Jenni explained the critical role LLPs play in bridging the justice gap for families navigating low-conflict family law cases. As Selena described, an LLP is:

“A legal professional licensed by the Colorado Supreme Court to help families in low conflict cases—those that don’t need a big ugly court battle—and who generally need a guide through the court process.”

This groundbreaking initiative is helping Coloradans who might otherwise go without legal representation due to cost, receive professional support and guidance during some of life’s most difficult moments.

A Personal Mission To Help Families

For Selena, this work is deeply personal. She shared her own experience growing up as a child of divorce and how it shaped her decision to become an LLP:

“I remember my parents’ divorce to this day and the impact it had on me and my little sister. I knew I could approach it differently and help families realize that not everything needs to be a big fight.”

Her compassion and lived experience fuel her desire to help families find resolution and peace, not conflict.

Real Impact, Real Results

Jenni Wurtz spoke about the comprehensive support LLPs provide, from consultations to court appearances, all while offering a more accessible alternative to traditional attorney fees.

“You can expect the same incredible service that you would receive from an attorney… We attend status conferences, mediation, we file motions. We do pretty much what attorneys do in that case—it’s just more accessible.”

Jenni’s impact is already evident. She shared a heartfelt story about one of her favorite clients—a young father who wanted more time with his son but couldn’t afford an attorney:

“He was only seeing his son two days a week, and that wasn’t enough for him. We filed a motion, and now he has 50/50 custody and joint decision-making. He said it was a huge weight lifted.”

Breaking Barriers To Legal Help

LLPs like Selena and Jenni are making a tangible difference in the lives of Colorado families. By offering lower hourly rates and compassionate, expert-level guidance, they ensure that more parents, children, and families have access to justice

“75% of people couldn’t afford an attorney,” Jenni explained. “We make it more accessible to those who need it.”
