Biography
Fancy Zaldivar is a Seattle family law attorney who helps clients navigate difficult transitions with empathy, clear guidance, and an appreciation for the unique relationships and circumstances that shape every family.
Born and raised in Wenatchee, Washington, Fancy developed an early interest in becoming an attorney. Her Mexican and Salvadoran heritage also shaped her appreciation for the different cultural backgrounds, traditions, and family dynamics that influence each client’s experience. She understands there is no single definition of family and approaches each matter with curiosity, respect, and a genuine desire to understand what matters most to the people she represents.
Fancy is particularly drawn to family law because of the opportunity to support clients during periods when relationships, routines, and a sense of stability may all be changing at once. She believes meaningful legal representation goes beyond resolving the immediate dispute. It should also help clients reach a place where they can move forward and focus on the relationships and priorities that matter most in their lives.
Before law school, Fancy worked as a legal assistant, gaining practical experience in the legal field. During law school, she further developed her family law background through Seattle University’s Family Law Center, where she worked with both the Family Law Clinic and Domestic Violence Protection Order Clinic. Those experiences gave her hands-on exposure to individuals navigating family law and protection order matters.
Today, Fancy brings that combination of advocacy, empathy, and practical experience to her family law practice. Her goal is to ensure clients understand their options, feel confident using their voice, and have a strategy built around their individual goals and circumstances.

Fancy believes no two families are alike, which means no two family law cases should be approached in exactly the same way.
She begins by taking the time to understand what matters most to each client: their concerns, priorities, relationships, and the life they hope to build after the case is resolved. From there, Fancy develops a strategy tailored to those goals and helps clients communicate their needs with greater clarity and confidence.
When a productive resolution is possible through communication and negotiation, she supports that approach. Fancy understands that practical agreements can often help families reduce conflict and move forward more effectively.
When stronger advocacy is necessary, however, she is prepared to protect her client’s interests. Throughout the process, Fancy focuses on providing clear guidance so clients understand their options, can make informed decisions, and feel supported at every stage.
Fancy earned her undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University in 2019. After graduation, she worked as a legal assistant before beginning law school at Seattle University School of Law in 2022.
During law school, Fancy was involved in several organizations focused on advocacy, dispute resolution, community, and family law, including the Dispute Resolution Board, Seattle Journal for Social Justice, Latinx Law Student Association, Women of Color Coalition, and Family Law Society.
She also gained hands-on family law experience through Seattle University’s Family Law Center, working with the Family Law Clinic and Domestic Violence Protection Order Clinic. Fancy received the Seattle University School of Law Pro Bono Pledge Award in recognition of her volunteer service during law school.
