Biography
Brian Hottinger began his legal career seeking to help individuals facing diverse legal issues. In law school, Brian earned an LL.M. in tax law. He wanted to continue to explore the diverse range of practices to help individuals, so he began his legal career with the Colorado Public Defender’s Office practicing criminal law. While with the public defender, Brian represented over 1,000 different clients in both misdemeanor and felony matters. His experience involved extensive motions practice, negotiations, and jury trials.
Through his career as a public defender, Brian was able to develop a dynamic litigation style. Brian finds the balance between negotiation and firm litigation, looking to what is the best outcome for each client’s particular circumstances.
Brian understands more than most the importance of knowing a client’s background and working within that framework. Brian begins every case by learning about a client’s goals and the family’s history. With this information he is able to carefully craft a unique strategy that is specifically tailored to that client and their situation. Brian’s litigation background assures that he will tirelessly advocate through negotiations and adversarial proceedings. He also understands that for many people, family is the most important thing. When dealing with such emotional and sensitive matters, Brian is every client’s firm and dedicated advocate.
Brian graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. After a brief break, he attended law school at the University of Alabama School of Law. While in law school, Brian was an editor of the Alabama Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Law Review.
