Biography
Amanda Aubrey is a dedicated family law attorney whose practice is rooted in compassion, clarity, and a deep commitment to helping people through some of life’s most challenging transitions. With extensive experience representing families across Texas, Amanda has built her career on supporting clients during periods of uncertainty, ensuring they feel informed, grounded, and genuinely cared for every step of the way.
Before joining Modern Family Law, Amanda served as a prosecutor in Travis County, where she handled high-stakes family-violence cases involving domestic abuse, child safety, protective orders, and firearm-related threats. That work shaped her trauma-informed approach to the law and strengthened her resolve to protect individuals and families facing instability, fear, or danger.
Today, Amanda’s practice encompasses the full spectrum of family law, with particular experience in LGBTQ+ family matters, adoption and parentage, and family violence and protective orders. She approaches each case with calm steadiness, listening closely to her clients’ concerns and tailoring strategies to their unique needs. Clients value her ability to make the complex feel manageable and to create space for clarity and confidence during overwhelming moments.
While Amanda prioritizes amicable, respectful resolutions whenever possible, she is also a strong and capable litigator who brings meticulous preparation and unwavering advocacy to the courtroom when a case calls for it. Her clients know she will fight for them—not from a place of aggression, but from a place of purpose, dignity, and dedication to their long-term well-being.
Long before she became an attorney, Amanda was a classically trained double bassist, captivated by the emotional storytelling of orchestral film scores—especially the sweeping works of John Williams and the timeless music of classic Disney films. That early connection to narrative, emotion, and rhythm influences her practice even now: she listens deeply, notices patterns, and helps clients find meaning and direction amid the noise of conflict.
Outside of practice, Amanda treasures time with her family, including two cats and a dog, explores the Austin area, reads widely, and consumes women’s sports in any form.

Her approach is deeply individualized. Amanda knows no two families are the same, and she treats every client as a whole person, not a case file. At every stage, Amanda’s goal is the same: to meet each client exactly where they are, help shoulder their worry, and guide them toward the best possible outcome with dignity, compassion, and confidence.
Amanda was the first person in her family to pursue and complete a graduate degree, though she is proud to say that two of her cousins have followed in her footsteps. She followed a long and circuitous path to the law, graduating from law school at the tender age of 35. She always knew she wanted to practice the kind of law that would let her sleep at night, both figuratively and literally, and chose the University of the District of Columbia School of Law specifically for its public service law-oriented mission and focus on preparing graduates to practice law, not just learn it.
Amanda received her undergraduate degree in International Business in 2007. Being raised by a single mother gave Amanda an early understanding of the importance of mixing grit and determination with compassion, love, and an open heart. As a family law practitioner, Amanda believes there is no greater formula or education to prepare her for helping her clients through the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Amanda currently plays in as many community orchestras as her schedule will allow and coaches the occasional junior flag football team when called upon.
