Modern Family Law’s Nick Tootalian Featured on Fox 31: Driving Innovation in Family Law with LLPs

Modern Family Law’s mission to make legal services more accessible was on full display during a recent segment of Great Day Colorado on Fox 31, where Denver Managing Partner Nicholas Tootalian sat down to discuss Colorado’s groundbreaking Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP) program. The interview, which aired on Fox 31’s Great Day Colorado, highlighted the urgent need for more inclusive legal representation and the firm’s innovative efforts to address it.

Championing Legal Innovation In Family Law

We focus on innovation, bringing innovation to family law, which has traditionally been kind of an archaic area of law and practice,” said Tootalian. From Denver to Colorado Springs to Fort Collins, and now across four states, Modern Family Law continues to expand access to high-quality legal representation for families at every income level.

The firm’s adoption and promotion of the LLP program is a key part of this mission.

Our goal is to bring high-quality representation to the entirety of the economic spectrum,” Tootalian explained. “We’re investing in LLPs because there is really a need for more representation in family law matters.

What Is The LLP Program?

Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals (LLPs) are trained legal professionals authorized to represent clients in family law cases such as divorce, custody, and support, similar to how nurse practitioners work alongside doctors. This model provides a more accessible legal option without compromising on quality.

In the past couple of years, 75% of family law cases went before courts without representation,” Tootalian shared. “The legal system is complex and scary. Our LLPs are doing a fantastic job offering services to those that otherwise may not have been able to afford attorneys.

What Sets Modern Family Law’s LLPs Apart?

With LLPs currently in Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs, Modern Family Law’s team is uniquely experienced and supported.

These LLPs are often decades into practice as paralegals. They’re very well-versed in the law, client management — sometimes more so than attorneys,” said Tootalian. “They’re backed by our attorneys and staff and doing an excellent job offering services to individuals who might otherwise be left out.

The segment, also highlighted on Fox 31’s Facebook page, underscores how Modern Family Law’s LLPs are changing the face of legal access for Colorado families.
