Sophia focuses her practice on helping families navigate some of their most difficult and life-changing moments, including divorce, custody disputes, and financial reorganization. Outside the courtroom, Sophia is an avid knitter and recipe developer who loves experimenting in the kitchen. She’s also a committed long-distance runner, having completed multiple marathons. Sophia Duax’s educational journey reflects a deep commitment to leadership, advocacy, and community service. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of Colorado Boulder in May 2022. During her undergraduate years, Sophia was honored with the Arts and Humanities Achievement Scholarship and recognized as a Presidential Scholar. She also took on leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board and President of the Arts and Sciences Student Government.
Sophia earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in May 2025. During her time in law school, she was awarded the Sturm Elevation Initiative Scholarship and was actively involved in student leadership and trial advocacy. She served as both a coach and participant in the Student Trial Lawyers Association and the Advocates Cup and mentored junior students as an Upperclassmen Mentor.
It was in law school that Sophia discovered her passion for family law. Drawn to the human side of legal practice, she found that family law offered the rare opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact on her clients’ lives. She appreciated how the field allowed her to build strong client relationships, guide people through emotionally challenging times, and advocate for their futures with both compassion and conviction.
Sophia is a proud member of both the American Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association. These affiliations reflect her ongoing commitment to legal excellence, professional growth, and connection to the broader legal community.
Sophia volunteers with the Achilles Foundation, where she guides blind and differently-abled individuals on runs and walks along Denver’s trails. This work reflects her belief in inclusivity, empowerment, and supporting others—values that are also at the core of her legal practice.
