Biography
Rachel McKenzie is the Managing Attorney at Modern Family Law’s San Jose office and a veteran family law practitioner serving families throughout the South Bay area. With over 20 years of experience, Rachel has dedicated her career to guiding individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging transitions with compassion and strength.
Her journey in family law has taken many forms, beginning in private practice, serving as a family law facilitator for the courts, and working as a legal aid attorney supporting survivors of domestic violence. Even before law school, Rachel knew her calling was to give back to her community and help people in times of crisis.
At Modern Family Law, Rachel is proud to be part of a progressive firm that focuses on client-centered representation, minimizes conflict, and keeps costs manageable. She believes that by combining the support of a respected multi-state team with efficient case management, clients are better positioned to move forward with stability and confidence.
Having lived and worked in the Bay Area her entire life, Rachel is deeply connected to the San Jose community. She understands the stress and uncertainty that family law matters bring, and she practices to provide clear guidance, practical solutions, and results-driven advocacy. Both a seasoned mediator and litigator, Rachel strives to resolve matters amicably whenever possible but is unwavering when protecting her clients’ interests in court.
Outside of her legal practice, Rachel enjoys traveling, great food, and time with her family, but her greatest passion is found in her garden, where she reconnects with balance and growth.

Rachel earned her Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law, building on her lifelong commitment to helping families in crisis.
