Biography
Alyssa Morris is a family law practitioner in Fort Collins, Colorado. Alyssa has a diverse background in legal aid, immigration, dependency and neglect, and criminal defense. Alyssa spent the last year and a half at the Office of the State Public Defender in Greeley, CO, handling felony criminal matters. During her time with the public defender, she represented clients in contested hearings, litigated evidentiary issues, and took many cases to trial.
The invaluable experience she gained at the public defender inspired her to pursue family law, where she could help provide guidance and support to clients going through extremely difficult situations. Alyssa is passionate about providing thorough and individualized representation of her clients to get them the best possible outcomes for their needs.
Alyssa is dedicated to fighting for her clients while remaining professional and striving for amicable solutions. Working with her skilled team at Modern Family Law, Alyssa can progress clients’ cases without unnecessary delays. Family law issues can be sensitive, but Alyssa approaches cases and clients with compassion and support.
Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys spending time in the mountains, paddleboarding, and spending time with family and her pets.
Interesting Facts
Alyssa worked as a children’s gymnastics coach throughout her schooling, coaching children from the age of 18 months to 13 years old. She was born and raised in Colorado and is a huge Broncos and Nuggets fan. Her favorite foods are seafood boils and hot pot.
Alyssa’s ultimate goal is to help her clients get the outcome they are hoping for, whatever that may be.
Alyssa aims to get as much information from the client as possible, so she can fully understand the nuances and specific details surrounding a case. This information helps her understand the motivations and desired outcomes of the parties involved in the case, allowing her to develop an appropriate strategy for proceeding.
Although Alyssa aims to find common ground and reach amicable solutions with opposing parties, she is extremely confident litigating issues in court and fighting for her clients when negotiations fail.
Alyssa attended the University of Colorado Boulder for her undergraduate education. In Boulder, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. After graduation, she decided to pursue a law degree.
Alyssa attended law school at the University of Miami in Florida. During her time in law school, she worked closely with the public interest resource center and received two fellowships: one with Dade Legal Aid and the other with the Colorado Office of the Child Representative. Alyssa also volunteered with the ACLU of Florida’s Immigration Detention Database Program, tracking human rights violations in Florida ICE Detention Centers.
During law school, Alyssa participated in the Miami Law Litigation Skills program. In this program, Alyssa prepared mock trials and arguments to present to practicing Florida Judges to hone her trial skills. This inspired her to start her career as a public defender, where she could gain invaluable litigation experience to use later in her career in family law.
