Biography
Julia has been zealously advocating for her clients in family law matters in and around the Bay Area for over a decade. Julia understands that family law is unlike any other area of law and the need for an attorney with the experience and knowledge of the intricacies of this very particular area of law. Julia also understands that more often than not her clients are going through one of the most difficult times in their lives. Julia prides herself on her ability to guide clients through each step of the process and implement strategies that ensure the best possible result no matter how small or large the issue may be.
Julia grew up in Monterey, CA, and went on to graduate with honors from Saint Mary’s College of California where she majored in Anthropology. Before attending law school, Julia traveled around the world for a year volunteering with various human rights organizations. She later graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law. While in law school, Julia focused her studies on civil litigation, family law, and international human rights matters. Julia advocated for human rights both at the Cambodian Center for Human Rights and at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. Julia also regularly litigated cases in the city and county of San Francisco as a certified law student. She interned at Bay Area Legal Aid where she was mentored by award-winning attorneys.
Julia continued practicing family law and civil litigation as a solo practitioner and later joined the firm of Miller & Associates as a senior associate. Julia also worked for Fenchel Family Law and Schoenberg Family Law group before joining Modern Family Law. Julia has been a member of the San Francisco Bar Association, Alameda Bar Association, Contra Costa County Bar Association, the California Family Law Section, and Queen’s Bench.
When she is not working, Julia enjoys traveling with her fiance and going on hikes with their dogs.
Julia understands that no two cases or clients are the same. Julia’s objective is to make sure her clients arrive at the most advantageous position possible and that her clients’ voices are heard. Julia begins by strategizing with clients to deduce what their biggest objectives are. Julia then lays out the process in a tangible way for her clients and explains each of their options, what each option entails, and what to expect out of each. Julia will work with clients and opposing parties/counsels to achieve their goals through negotiation when appropriate but does not shy away from aggressive litigation.
Julia always knew she was going to be a lawyer. So, when she went to undergraduate school at Saint Mary’s she majored in Anthropology and minored in Comparative Religions. This, accompanied by Saint Mary’s liberal arts model, gave Julia a great understanding of people, the world, and how to think on a global scale. Julia graduated in three years while working two jobs. After graduating with honors, Julia traveled the world on her own savings for about a year before attending law school at the University of San Francisco. Julia’s law school education was not confined to the classroom. Julia began litigating actual cases in the Bay Area as a certified law student which allowed her to gain true on the job training not availabe in books or lectures.
