Leadership in Law Award for 2007 Presented to Managing Partner:

Nancy Sachitano received recognition as an extrordinary lawyer by being nominated and selected as a recipient of the Daily Record 2007 Leadership in Law Award.  The Leadership in Law Program honors Maryland's best.  Nancy Sachitano received this recognition for being an extraordinary lawyer and the firms managing partner.  Most importantly her recognition as a "leader" in the field among many Maryland legal professionals for her dedication to her occupation and to her community is truly an honor.      

The selection process consisted of a panel of representatives from Maryland's business, legal, and higher education community who met in Baltimore to review nomineess for the Daily Record 2007 Leadership in Law Awards.  The Awards, now in their 7th year, honor the success of 24 Marylanders who contribute significantly and consistently to the legal profession.  The judges examined recommendations that were solicited statewide to determine the nominees' investments in bettering the legal profession and the communities in which they live and work.  Emphasis was also placed on how each nominee strives through mentoring efforts to foster strong future generations of professional and community leaders.  Nancy Sachitano is one of 24 Marylanders recognized as a Leader in Law.  

Governor of Maryland appoints Nancy Sachitano to the Maryland Legal Services Corporation Board of Directors: 

Nancy Sachitano was recently appointed by the Governor of Maryland and confirmed by the Maryland Senate to serve as a Board Member on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Legal Services Corporation (MLSC).  The Maryland Legal Services Corporation (MLSC) was established by the Maryland General Assembly in 1982 to raise funds and make grants to nonprofit organizations for the provision of civil legal assistance to low-income persons in Maryland.  MLSC is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of Maryland and confirmed by the Maryland Senate.  Five are lawyers and four are not lawyers.  Nancy has been appointed to service a three year term by the Governor with Senate advice and consent. 

Partner Makes Worth Magazine’s List of The Nation's 100 Top Attorneys and the only lawyer in the state of Maryland selected for this honor for two consecutive years:

Scott M. Strickler, Senior Partner, has the distinction of being included for the second consecutive year in Worth Magazine’s December 2007 issue as one of "The 100 Top Attorneys" in the United States serving the needs of affluent clients and their families. Scott Strickler was one of only two lawyers in the State of Maryland selected for this honor and the only matrimonial lawyer in the State of Maryland earning this distinction for two consectuive years.  Worth’s editors compiled its list of nominees based on recommendations from the publication’s readers, as well as those in the fields of financial advice, accounting, and consultants to affluent clients. Each nominee was then asked to complete a detailed questionnaire and offer insight on important legal trends and specific counsel given to actual clients. Finally, the magazine’s editorial staff performed background checks on the nominees and considered client recommendations.  

Montgomery County Legal Assistance Network:

The Montgomery County Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Committee was excited to announce the completion of the Montgomery County Legal Assistance Network’s new and comprehensive list of free and low-cost legal and community-related service providers serving Montgomery County and the greater metropolitan area.  Nancy Sachitano, of Strickler Sachitano & Hatfield and current Chair of the Pro Bono Committee, explains, "Legal information and services can be hard to find for anyone, but for those with fewer financial resources it’s often even harder. That’s why, for the first time, we are making the brochure available to the general public as well as to the legal community."  More than forty organizations are featured including: a summary of their services, hours of operation, contact information, intake procedures, and cost information. Partners are Selected for Washington’s Top Lawyers List, Washingtonian Magazine, December 2007. Hundreds of attorneys were contacted in each of the practice areas; and, as in past articles, they were asked to name a lawyer in their field whom they would trust (other than themselves!).
